Fav David Tennant photo of the day

I got into this photo today as it's opposite that page where they write about David Tennant getting the part of The Doctor in Doctor Who - The Inside Story!
(As usual click the photo for a larger image.)

Docto Who outtakes

This clip has a wonderful collection of outtakes from the Second Series, plus some funny clips like cybermen playing football!

Takin' Over The Asylum

I saw the final two episodes of Takin' Over The Asylum today.
I enjoyed the series but I thought the last episode let it down a bit.
Certainly something to keep and watch again though!

I work in a Doctor Who location!!!

I'm just amazed that I discovered today that I work in a Doctor Who location!
Apparently there is a BBC book (featuring the 8th Doctor) called The Adventuress of Henrietta Street and that's the road I work in! (It's not a long road either. it's just by Covent Garden)! There are some reviews of the book here and apparently it's set in the 18th century (I work in a listed building so it's been around for a long while). Obviously I'll have to buy the book now.
Talking about buying Doctor Who books, my copy of Doctor Who - The Inside Story by Gary Russell was delivered today. It looks like it's going to be a good read! There's 256 pages of behind the scenes stuff on the first two series. Being female(!) I looked at all the photos first but I've also read the foreward by David Tennant (I admit I had to look up the word "ephemeral"!) and the afterward by Russell T Davies.
Now I can't wait to get into the book itself!

Not the best shot of him...but I like it!
The photo is from the Doctor Who episode Fear Her which I've been watching segments from over the last couple of nights.

The Hello magazine poll

It's been neck and neck plus up and down all day on the Hello magazine poll!
Yesterday Diavid Tennant started about 200 behind Hugh Laurie (HL) but by around midnight last night he was about 60 in front. It appears that HL always does better overnight but last night he only gained about 100 and David Tennant and caught that up and was back in the lead again by the afternoon.
The pattern so far has been that David Tennant's fans come out to vote in force in the evening and he gains ground but somehow tonight HL has steamed ahead (he's about 100 in front as I write this). Something suspicious happened a couple of hours ago though as for a few minutes none of the voting buttons loaded on the site and that was when HL steamed away.
It's only a bit of fun but I'd really like David Tennant to win (especially against HL as he looks frightful in House!).
Only 3 weeks to go!!! Please vote if you can.... http://www.hellomagazine.com/vote/mostattractiveman/month/index.html is the link.

Rumours about Doctor Who

A couple of rumours about Doctor Who are circulating on the Internet today!
The (possibly) big one is that there's supposed to be a big BBC meeting in Cardiff today about Doctor Who. Hopefully the 4th series will be commissioned. Hopefully even more the 5th series will be commissioned too and David Tennant will sign-up to act in both series!
The other rumour is that the actress Jessica Simpson is supposed to be in talks about possibly appearing in an episode of Doctor Who. Apparently it's hoped that it'll help the Beeb sell the series to America.

More Doctor Who on TV on Saturday!

I'd already spotted that UKTV Gold are showing The Age Of Steel on Saturday evening at 12.25am (technically Sunday morning) but now it seems that they are also showing it at 10.00am on Saturday moning too! That means that with repeats on UKTV Gold2 there could be a bumper 4 hours of the one episode on Saturday!
And don't forget that David Tennant is in The Mrs Bradley Mysteries at 7.00pm on Saturday too on UKTV Drama!

NEWS - David Tennant in the TV Times

There's an interview with David Tennant in next weeks issue of the TV Times (out today). The TVTimes website says "And talking of monsters, we've also got a special preview of Doctor Who's upcoming third season, as star David Tennant guides us through the weird and wacky people and places the Time Lord and his new assistant Martha Jones will be visiting in the new run."

I've seen a scan of the first page of the interview and the first paragraph includes the phrase "he's denied reports he's quit the show". However the final part of the interview actually only goes as far as to quote him as saying "You shouldn't believe everything you read in the papers".

I like the title of the article - Who's a Busy Boy!

Doctor Who Confidential

This is the write-up about Friday's (repeated) episode from the BBC website:
Fri 9 Feb, 7:00 pm - 7:30 pm 30mins
The New Doctor

Learn all about David Tennant's regeneration as the new doctor at the end of series one and follow him exclusively behind the scenes as he chooses his outfit in The Christmas Invasion. Join The Doctor and Rose on their first together adventure together on New Earth and share in the waterlogged wonder of the unforgettable lift shaft sequence, where David and Billie receive a good old soaking!
From windy hill tops to soaking sets, Confidential's cameras are with the cast and crew at every turn, joining the Doctor and Rose in a whole new world of trouble. The Doctor looks set to take Rose further into the future than ever before. [S]
I vaguely remembering watching it when it was first broadcast so this should be fun!

I first saw this photo as someone's background on their MySpace page.....I just wish that I could find that page again!
This photo looks better the larger it is so click on the picture for a bigger version.

POSSIBLE filming location

According to posts in the forums on Outpost Gallifrey today, there was some activity at Sophia Gardens (a cricket ground in Cardiff) today. People mainly reported lots of vehicles being parked there.
This appears to be in conflict with reports posted last week that filming was taking place this week in a quarry.

DVD Arrived!

My copy of The Quartermass Experiment DVD arrived today!
I bought it on E-Bay and it seems that it has some extras (a documentary about the making of the production, audio commentary by the cast and a photo gallery) which looks interesting! I tend to eke out my DT watching (partly due to lack of time but partly because I dread the day when I have nothing new to watch!) so I've just read the liner notes and I'll settle down to watch the DVD
sometime soon.
There's a nice photo of David Tennant in the booklet (pictured left) and it says that he started the rehearsals slightly late as he still had the flu. There's a sweet quote from him about being nervous about the show (in case you didn't know it went out live on national TV) "I particularly have got a lot of jargon, a lot of scientific, technical, medical stuff and that can be difficult to get your tongue around at the best of times. I'm worried that I'll get my "post-catabolic residues" mixed up. But maybe nobody will notice if I do it with enough conviction!"
The liner notes also says that it was these rehearsals that he discovered that he'd been cast as Doctor Who.
Apparently during the live performance itself, David almost lost his footing while racing from one set to another. "David's feet just went from under him but he picked himself up and carried on running"!

This is from Rise Of The Cybermen and is the classic photo from that episode (at least for me!).

David Tennant in Taking Over The Asylum episode 3

Today I managed to watch episode 3 of Taking Over The Asylum. It's the one where Spike Millighan makes a brief appearance near the end.
I read somewhere that when they were trying to cast someone in the role of Cambell Bain they were looking for someone who looked 19 (David Tennant was 23 at the time) and could play someone who was hyper as the character is a manic depressive. I think he's really good in it as he chases around all over the place and I like the way they don't pull any punches about calling themselves loonies....they even have a "spot the looney" contest!
Now I just have to see if I can connect everything back together again so that I can watch Sky and my videos again!

There's even more Tennant watching next weekend as we have shows on Friday, Saturday and Sunday now that UK Gold are saying that they're showing a repeat of The Age Of Steel very early Sunday morning!

David Tennant currently in #1 place on the Hello magazine poll

At the start of the weekend, he was in 3rd place so it's a real achievement that he's curremtly in #1 position!
I've been working from home all weekend so a vote every 15 minutes has been a welcome break from my work. (It's also quite a good discipline breaking my day into 15 minute chunks to see what work I've achieved since the last one!) Plus I've been popping into Outpost Gallifrey now and then as they've been posting some great photos as an incentive!
Unfortunately it's still early days as the polls don't close until 28th February but the proof is above.

Rise Of The Cybermen

Okay, so UK Gold showed Rise Of The Cybermen and not The Age Of Steel as they advertised! This was the first of the two parter but, with their track history, goodness knows when we'll get TAOS....they'll probably show Fear Her again first!
I had a bit of trouble taping it (I really shouldn't have unplugged everything at the back of the TV!) but I managed to get it recorded when it was shown an hour later on UK Gold2. I will buy the Series Two DVD box set at some point, if for no other reason than the Tennant Diaries!

Taking Over The Asylum Eps 2

I bought a copy of Taking Over The Asylum on E-Bay about a month ago. I'm quite self-controlled and limit myself (most days!) to one bit of DT watching each day to eke it out a bit. Anyway recently I saw the first episode (David Tennant has a STRONG scottish accent in it and looks quite young - it was filmed in 1994) and then put it in my laptop to watch the second episode but the CD wouldn't play! As I was on a plane at the time, I watched the first track of the second CD instead which was episode 4 of the 6 part series.
We worked out it was because I was trying to watch it on a computer so I (finally!) today invested in a DVD player (as I'm the only person I know who doesn't have one!). It took some setting up as I have an old telly and I have the choice of either the DVD player or Sky and video and I have to unplug loads of cables to get from one option to the other.
Anyway, I watched the second episode and it had a nice lot of DT scenes in it, especially the one at the end when he takes over the microphone to stay in the asylum....the acting in that part is very impressive!
It's been busy on the Hello magazine voting site today. David Tennant had dropped into 3rd place behind Hayden Christiensen but it seems that loads of people have been voting today so as I write this David is now 5,021 to HC's 4,565! Hugh Laurie is (somehow!) in front with 5,459. I've been voting religiously every 15 minutes as I've been working at home (and I know it's Saturday!) and it gives me a brief break 4 times an hour.
And we still have The Age Of Steel to watch tonight on UK Gold!

David Tennant on TV loads next weekend!

Of course we still have the Doctor Who episode Age Of Steel on UK Gold tonight at 12.25am (repeated at 1.25am on UK Gold2), but next weekend there's 4 TV shows that he'll be in!
Friday 9th 7.00pm - Doctor Who Confidential (about David Tennant as the new Doctor)
Friday 9th 7.30pm - Doctor Who episode New Earth ("you like it!")
Friday 9th 8.15pm - Doctor Who episode Tooth And Claw (one of the best scenes in that is his fascination at seeing the werewolf for the first time)
So that's a 3 hour Tennant-fest!

Then on Saturday on UK Drama there is the David Tennant episode of The Mrs Bradley Mysteries. This is set in around the 1920s, complete with the unflattering clothes they wore back then! I was lucky enough to catch an advert for the series last night on TV which shows DT!

TCI on BBC3

The Christmas Invasion (from Christmas 2005) was shown on BBC3 tonight which was fun to watch again!
Usually if I'm watching it on video, I'll just fast forward to the "Did you miss me?" line but tonight I watched it all.
I was disappointed about the Doctor Who Confidential which preceeded it as it was about the finale of Series One so didn't show any DT.

Vote for David Tennant on Hello magazine website

There's currently (until the end of February) a vote for the Best Looking Guy on the Hello magazine website.
David Tennant
won the weekly vote a couple of weeks ago and now it's the vote for the best looking guy featured in the magazine during January. The voting is "temperamental" as sometimes the votes appear to go down but you can only vote once each 15 minutes.
For some reason he's only in third place at the moment!

A good day for Tennant Watching!

Today was a very good day for me for Tennant Watching!
First I read on the wonderful David-Tennant.com website that there will be a special screening of Recovery by BAFTA on 14th February and I managed to get a reserved seat on the guest list! It's a drama that David Tennant filmed last year about a couple who have to come to terms with the husband drastically changing after a serious head injury.
The other bit of good news today is that BBC Three are repeating (at least part of) the second series of Doctor Who starting tomorrow! Of course I saw them all when they were on the first time but unfortunately I didn't record them. I caught a couple when UK Gold repeated them on a Saturday morning but they showed them out of order as we had Army Of Ghosts, then New Earth and then Doomesday!
Tomorrow there is an episode of Doct Who Confidential (the Rose special) at 7.00pm and then The Christmas Invasion at 7.30pm.
I've also discovered that UK Gold are showing an episode at 12.25am on Saturday night / Sunday morning. For some reason (not that I'm complaining!) they're showing The Rise Of The Cybermen which doesn't fit in with the order of the others they've shown on that channel!

NEWS - Filming today in a quarry in South Wales

The title says it all really!
Apparently they are filming (starting today and continuing next week) in a quary in South Wales. Also rumoured (reasonably reliably) is that John Barrowman (Captain Jack) starts filming tomorrow.

A bit of history

I'm one of the original children who was brought up on Doctor Who, scared out of my wits and loved it! I think my favourite monsters were the shop manniquins who came alive as they were something I could identify with more than a dalek! The first Doctor I really remember is Jon Pertwee (I'm showing my age!).
Anyway when BBC1 announced that they were going to bring it back in Spring 2005 I settled down to watch it and was amazed that not only was it better than the original, it was 10 times better! I know that back in the 60s and 70s they were limited with budget and special effects but I thought that the storylines were just SO clever in the new series.
Fast forward to late 2006 and something happened and I got into Doctor Who in a BIG way in general (and into David Tennant into particular!). The first non-Doctor Who thing I saw him in around that time was the Virgin Radio Christmas Pantomine which was hilarious! I was then lucky enough to go to the taping of The Friday Night Project (more about that later).
Anyway, this is my Blog of Tennant Watching with some news items, some things that I'm watching and hopefully some little gems too!
Enjoy....
